Ethan, coming from someone probably old enough to be your father, I can tell you that people make it too easy to say "yeah man just step back for a while." Perhaps in your position, because you are young and still single (as far as I know), but most people in life don't even have that option. I'm not lecturing, just encouraging you to to not waste time on things that have become unenjoyable or "grinding" to you. You are very fortunate to be able to have the choice to vary your life, and you HAVE earned that, but don't forget that the best things in life are truly free. Maybe take a week or two vacation in Hawaii, or somewhere where there is NO poker nearby...either live or online. See how much you miss it, or not. Then go from there, listening to your heart more so than your brain. I wish you the best young man.

GL man- you’ve ascended to pretty incredible heights over the past few years. Remember though, poker is a zero sum game- your content, and other things you do in the business world probably won’t be. All about the balance between those two.

I have no idea how I cam across your content, I do however enjoy it. What you are currently doing is reflecting on the past to build the future. In my field it is encouraged to reflect often as burnout is prevalent. I would encourage you to take your reflective moments to understand your process and refine it rather than place judgement on yourself which then leads to punishment.

I have watched your approach on the tables, in the streams and your edited content. I will not be foolish to try and give advise. I will just say that we all, in every field out there, must from time to time go back to the basics. The basics are the foundation to everything we do, when that foundation is ignored the structure on that foundation falters. So go back to the basics for reinforcement and keep the structure strong.

So Bink on even if that means for a $5 dollar pot.

From a non-professional poker player who has dabbled in playing a lot of hours for short periods of time, I have three comments:

1.You need to increase the overall average strength of your hands and play a little tighter

2.Play smaller buy-ins with less travel. If your win rate is 10% ROI, if you play 50k in buy-ins travelling and spend $5k to travel there then you are only breaking even long term. I believe a lot of pros play cash to keep money coming in and tournys for a high variance ROI.

3.It's easy to give up. If you think you are playing well and looking at your equity on hands you lost, if you are a winner then tough it out.

What do I know, you're the one getting paid to do this...

Maybe try a tournament bankroll challenge? I also handle losses poorly which is why I try to play stakes within my bankroll. If I play stakes higher than my bankroll is allowed and I feel more stress/pressure to perform well then I move down to regain my confidence.
